ABOUT THE FILM

A documentary about Andy Warhol, one of the most popular and expensive artists in the world. The filmmakers reveal the little-known story of the artist, whose family came from Ukrainian Rusyns living in an eastern Slovak village. Growing up in a family of emigrant parents who cherished their roots, Andrei Warhola became world-famous as Andy Warhol, the man who founded pop art and revolutionized the world of contemporary art.

WHY SHOULD WATCH?

Andy Warhol is considered one of the most influential post-war artists of the 20th century. His work is closely linked to mass culture: famous Brillo soap pads, Campbell's soup cans, and Coca-Cola images emerged as a reaction to consumerism. But Warhol did not stop there – he founded his own creative "Factory," made experimental underground films, supported the music band The Velvet Underground, and was a true visionary (he predicted the phenomenon of rapid fame back in the 1970s, long before the advent of the internet and social media). The film gives viewers the opportunity to explore another, hidden part of the artist's life – to see where his family came from, learn about his relationships with relatives, and understand how his heritage influenced Warhol.
